Keawe and I decided to start a new tradition of date nights with our kids. Every month is a different child's turn to go on a date with either mom or dad. Keawe and I take a turn every other month with each child. Last October we started with Anela and I. We went to dinner at Chili's and had a good girlie conversation...accompanied with "the talk." Hmmmm....let's just say that was highly memorable! She chose to head off to the mall and go dress shopping for Erika's wedding. We then went to the craft store and picked out a Halloween craft to do together at home. So much fun!
The next month was Kanani and Dad's turn. They went to dinner at Wingers and then had ice-cream at Coldstone. Then it was off to Blockbuster to pick out a movie just for them to watch together in our bedroom. Again..good bonding times!
Well after taking December and January off, we finally got back in the groove and it was Kekoa's turn to go out with me. He chose Del Taco for dinner...yummy...where he had the whole kid's play area to himself.
For our activity he wanted to go rock-climbing! I took him to Momentum..the indoor rock-climbing place. We were each given harnesses and sent on our way....hmmmm...now it has been 10 years since I have been rock-climbing, needless to say I don't even remember how to put the harness on. I would like to say I looked so much like a pro when purchasing our pass that there was no question as to my abilities...but I think it was simply that the place was so crowded they didn't have time to give us a second thought. SO, after about 20 minutes of trying to find ANYONE who worked there that could help us (with Kekoa's comments of "Mom, this is not turning into a good memory!" Thanks, son!) I finally grabbed a man who looked like he knew what he was doing...turned out he worked there!! He was kind to show us what to do and then I spent the next hour (that's all Kekoa was good for) belaying (sp?) Kekoa up and down really tall walls. I was extremely impressed with HIS abilities! My little pro himself! When he was too tired to go up, we then went to the practice walls and he went sideways. Overall...super fun!
