Eight is Awesome!

Kekoa reached a HUGE milestone...he made it to his 8th Birthday! Whew! And what a fun day that was! He started out on Monday being the "Star of the Week" in his class at school. He made this cool poster describing all of his favorites..and brought his classmates powdered doughnuts for his birthday treat.

When the day finally arrived (landed on a Saturday...awesome!) HE woke US up and again everyone gathered on our bed for presents. He got a super tiny remote control car and all of his sparring gear for Tae Kwon Do...get ready for some serious fighting!

Around noon, we headed on over to GymCats for his birthday party. It was a giant gymnastics arena and we had it all to ourselves for an hour and a half! The kids favorite spot was the 5 ft. deep foam pit. They did all kinds of dives, flips, and jumps into it. They tried the balance beams, jumped on the tramp, did some rope swinging, and of course pit jumping. We ended the arena time with a contest for the coolest jump.

We then headed upstairs for cake, ice cream, and presents.

He got some pretty cool stuff from all of his friends! (Jett, Isaac, Payton, Hayden, David, Jake A., Jake B., Nick, Mckay, and Ian)

That night when asked where he wanted to eat for dinner, his reply was....DEL TACO! I said, "really?! of all the places to choose from that's what you want MOST of all?" He then said, "well, Panda Express is good too" Well, okay. Cheap tastes..he's eight, right?! Blake, Angela and their girls joined us for a gourmet Panda Express dinner. Fun day!

On Sunday we celebrated his birthday after the super bowl had ended. Grandma made him a very cool, very warm, very big blanket. Uncle Rob and Auntie Erika gave him a white elephant gift (as a joke) that Rob had recieved for his birthday from my parents (as a joke). Two ugly figurines that my parents had picked up in Mexico years ago...we'll see who the lucky birthday person is who gets it next! Their real present was an I-tunes gift card. Hale cousins gave him some super cool Bakugans. Thanks everybody!

The following Sunday (Valentine's Day) we celebrated his birthday with the Naluai family. He got clothes from Malia and Kala'i, baptism things from Grandma and Grandpa, remote control helicopter from Leila, and a CTR tie pin along with a future birthday date from Kawika:

Another perk to being eight is joining the scouting world! Boy was he excited to do that...mom not so much because scouting is a foreign world to her...good thing there is dad to help him through it!

Happy birthday kiddo..this is a big year for you.
