The Magic of Christmas Eve....

It's Christmas Eve and the kids were beyond excited. I just love the built up excitement of the day before Christmas! Keawe left early morning to go shooting with Alika and John. I took the kids with me over to Grandma's house to combine excitement with the cousins! I spent the day with my sisters (minus Erika who flew with Rob to Mexico for Christmas) and Mom cooking and getting ready for Christmas Eve dinner. Dinner went great, we stuffed ourselves full and then settled around a warm fire to listen to Grandpa tell the Christmas story from the scriptures.

Afterwards the cousins opened their gifts from the cousins who drew their names. That was followed by my siblings opening the gifts from the siblings who drew their names. Erika and Rob gave us a VISA gift card and we gave Angela and Blake movie tickets. Greg opened up his birthday/Christmas gift from all of us and Brian and Natalie..a new printer. FUN!

Then came the presents from Grandma and Grandpa Hale to all the grandkids and kids. The delight on our kids faces! We all gave Mom and Dad season tickets to the Hale Centre Theatre again this year. It was such a hit last year that they requested it again! We love giving gifts when we KNOW they will love it! Looking around at everyone's faces that night was such a delight! My Grandpa Hale was able to be there with us and gave the whole family $1000.00 to go towards our vacation fund we set up this year. Wow! It was a great evening. We got home about 10:30 pm, put the kids to bed (the kids were so tired they didn't remember the cookies and milk for Santa! Good thing I remembered!) and we hit the sack a little later that night.

We had Grandpa Hale with us the next day and he talked about how much he enjoyed being with your family that evening. Thanks for having him!

I remember when we used to draw cousin names and give presents. That was so fun. I disctintly remember some of my gifts from my cousins. Once, we had our party at Grandma and Grandpa Holt's. John and Aleen were living there. I remember I got a new "My Little Pony" her name is Moondancer, from either you or Natalie - I think?- (here's a link so you can have a flashback to what she looked like:

BTW I just found the comments you posted on my blog. Thanks for posting them. I'm a little slow at getting into the blogging world. We are adding a game/exercise room in the basement and upstairs will be a covered deck. Eventually, it will be closed in for a larger upstairs room. Either of these will be nice places for family to meet. . . we really don't have any place that can work for that.
