Gotta love vacation!

Why do vacations go by so quickly? You wait and wait and the excitement builds up and then you finally get to go and then you blink---and it's over. What?! Well, we sure had a fun time this year with the whole Hale family(except Greg who missed it by a week! DARN MARINES AND THEIR TECHNICALITIES!) in Glendale, Utah. We found a beautiful home 30 minutes from Zion's National Park that accomodated all of us. We arrived on Tuesday, July 14th and went home a week later, July 21st. What a fun-filled, busy, beautiful trip it was! Time for cousins and siblings to reunite and get 24/7 time with each other!

The first day we just spent driving and visiting Cove Fort and then unloading and getting situated in our various rooms at the house, had a BBQ, and visited.

Day 2: We went to Escalante and did a very fun long walk through the bottom of a cool canyon...can't remember what it was called. Should have worn our water shoes though, because our path way was in shallow water the entire time. After almost 2 1/2 hours of walking we decided that either there was no end or our kids would never make it back so we turned around and headed back.

Day 3: We went into Zion's (105 degree weather!) and hiked to the Emerald Pools. It was hot! Believe or not, Grandma and Grandpa made it to the top! They never cease to amaze us! It was well worth it once we arrived to the 3rd emerald pool because we went swimming in it! So much fun! When we arrived at the bottom again, we made a mandatory stop for ice cream! We then went to Weeping Rock and back home...long, HOT, fun day!

Day 4: Brian and April reminded us that they were supposed to be more restful as they were running the 13 mile marathon in Bryce Canyon that Saturday. Oops! So we decided to head to Kanab where we visited the Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, an old movie set, and the Heritage House (a home that housed a polygamist family in the early 1900's).

Day 5: We headed back over to Zion's National Park and hiked the Narrows! Way fun! Sure wasn't as sure-footed as we wanted to be, but we made it pretty far with our big AND little kidlets (Ethan, Alakai, and Kendra!) before we decided to turn around. Grandma stayed back with the littlest ones (Trisha and Annie) and played with them in the shade. So much fun! EXHAUSTED WE WERE! We were very much looking forward to a relaxing Sunday!

Day 6: Brian and April and their family headed home this day. Brian had to work the next day...so sad when family starts going home! My kids were super sad to say goodbye to their cousins! Before church we gathered for a quick picture and hugged the Hale's goodbye. We then headed to a church in the SMALL town of Glendale. Came home to relax for a bit before heading off to a easy, pretty hike to a waterfall.

Day 7: My family split up with the rest of the family and headed to St. George to visit the church sites that I went to every year as a child with my family. The rest of the family went to Bryce Canyon. It was so fun to show my kids and husband the Brigham Young winter home, St. George Tabernacle, St. George Temple's visiting center, and the Jacob Hamblin home. We all met back at the house to enjoy our last dinner together...sniff.
