Moab!

This is our 4th year going to Moab with the best group of friends! Every year in April, we pack up our whole house (it feels like) and head on down to Moab for a weekend of camping with the Grimes and the Sorensen families. This year we had an excellent camping spot right up against the most treacherous, exciting, full of exploring and secret hide-outs, way too dangerous for the little ones (and big ones) mountain of rocks! Needless to say there wasn't a whole lot of relaxing while at the campsite due to the parents constant eyes and oftentimes our bodies risking the climbs to rescue a child who was way too brave for their ages! Sorry Tiff and Jen! (Keawe and I picked out the spot) Our kids have begged that we find this site forever and always in the years to come. The girls had their "secret hide-out" (boys NOT allowed!!) and had carved their names into the rocks. The boys had their "secret hide-out"....did we ever know where that was?! And the little ones had their not-at-all "secret hideout" due to the many tours we were given to show us where it was. We rode our 4 wheelers, bikes, and took many walks (and hikes) all at our campsite. Ahhhhhh, good times!

On Saturday we decided (thanks to Jason)to take the kids to Goblin Valley...AMAZING!!! My dad tells me that I have been there when I was between 2 and 5 yrs old...no memory of it. We spent a majority of the day there climbing, and climbing, and climbing! (You'd think we got enough of that back at the campsite!) But this was an entire valley of exploration! Only the best place to play hide-and-seek EVER! Many families there were doing just that! We found holes and caves and peaks and whew! So much fun! On our way back to the cars, Keawe led some of the kids in following the leader. That was cute to watch the kids try and mimick his every move.

Sunday we dressed up for church..hmm...I'm not sure "dressed up" is the right phrasing as we were highly stinky!!! and dirty!!! well, just plain gross! I should have taken pictures of my family's sad attempt at looking "ready" for church after spending the last two days camping in red dirt and smelling of campfires! Never the less, we all braved it and what do ya know! The Moab ward had a section at the back of the chapel full of fellow campers who looked just as bad as we did! Apparently it is a common occurrence in the summer there! At least our hearts are in the right place! So many great memories, great food, great fun, great food, great sunburns, great food...did I mention the food was great?! Gotta love camping food..yum!

After coming home and assessing the enormous pile of laundry, the VERY dirty camper that needed cleaning, hosing down every pair of shoes that came with us as well as the truck and 4-wheeler...was it worth it? Heck ya!
