Kekoa has lost his first Tooth!

Just like Anela and Kanani, Kekoa has finally lost his first tooth towards the end of 1st grade! Both of his permanent bottom front teeth have grown in behind his baby teeth which has earned him the title, "shark." We finally pulled one of those babies out! If Kekoa's eyes look a little red in the pictures, well let's just say if you were a fly on the wall during this experience, you would have thought I had a butcher knife ready to cut off his arm instead of a piece of floss to pull out his tooth! He and his friend, Ian, both had a loose tooth and they were racing each other to see who's tooth came out first. Ian called us right before dinner earlier this week to tell us his tooth was out. Keawe and I decided that we were getting his tooth out that night too....Kekoa did not share the same desire. Now his tooth was VERY loose so I knew with one tug it would be out. After an hour of mustering some courage that just wasn't presenting itself, I took over and yes! with ONE tug it was out, followed by a blood curdling scream, followed by us running to the sink in the bathroom to rinse his mouth, followed by ginormous sobs as we staunched the bleeding with a tissue, followed by a GREAT BIG smile as he gazed at his mouth in the mirror...sigh! (followed by a phone call to his friend, Ian, to share the news)

A funny picture of Kanani (in 3rd grade) who just lost her bottom front tooth a couple of weeks ago. At this rate, they should lose all of their teeth by 10th grade.

I love it!!! I remember the awefullness of mom or dad taking our teeth out...but then it was the coolest thing after the whole butcher process.

Way to go Kekoa and Kanani...there are only a couple of things that are COOL to lose...and a TOOTH is one of them! (don't lose the MONEY the tooth fairy gives you...that would NOT be cool!)

My dad used to use Needle nose pliers---and you know what? They work like a dream---so that's what we use too! Our kids range all over the emotional spectrum for teeth loss, from kids ripping their own barely loose teeth out---to a tooth blowing in the wind, and that kiddo not letting us touch it! Congrats on stepping up to the big guys teeth Kekoa!
