Alakai is Six!

Our littlest guy is not so little anymore. He turned six! Pretty big, right? His birthday fell on a Sunday this year, so we celebrated a little a day earlier. His request for breakfast was a fruit shake. Later in the afternoon we headed over to Gymcats for his birthday party. This big gymnasium was a hit for Kekoa's 8th birthday and Alakai did not forget. He and his friends played hard, then we paused for presents, brownies, and ice cream and played some more. What better place to let rambunctious 4-5-6 year olds run wild?! It was worth every penny!

Later that evening we asked Alakai where he wanted to go for his birthday dinner and he requested Watermoon which is mine and Keawe's favorite sushi restaurant. So funny! However, he was NOT going for the sushi, just the orange chicken. Since Keawe's birthday was the following Tuesday and due to the choice in restaurant, we decided to combine their birthday dinners...and yes, we DID get sushi! (much to the kid's disgust:)

On his REAL birthday, he awoke before we did and came upstairs to crawl in bed with me. I told him we had to wake HIM up with the happy birthday song. He immediately got out of our bed and said, "I'm going back downstairs to pretend I'm asleep. Wake everyone up and come sing to me!" Well, all righty then. And we did. Followed by birthday spankings..he forgot that part, otherwise I don't think he would have been so excited:) Presents followed right after that which he WAS excited for.

Grandma and Grandpa Hale were not able to be there on his birthday because they were helping Natalie and Brian and family move to Texas. Alaka'i wanted only one thing from Grandma and Grandpa Hale and that was a big blanket that she had made for the older kids on their birthdays last year. Boy was he surprised when Auntie Angela showed up with a present from the missing grandparents. His Blanket!! He ripped it out of the bag and immediately collapsed on top of it. Excited?

A week later we celebrated with the Naluai's at Sunday dinner. Don't you just love those extended birthdays?!
